Topological superconductivity in proximity to type-II superconductors

چکیده
One-dimensional systems proximity-coupled to a superconductor can be driven into topological superconducting phase by an external magnetic field. Here, we investigate the effect of vortices created field in type-II providing proximity effect. We identify different ways which protection Majorana modes compromised and discuss strategies circumvent these detrimental effects. Our findings are also relevant phases proximitized quantum Hall edge states.

Comment on ”Vortex Liquid Crystal in Anisotropic Type II Superconductors” The suppression of superconductivity in type II superconductors
Comment on " Vortex Liquid Crystal in Anisotropic Type II Superconductors " The suppression of superconductivity in type II superconductors is associated with the melting transition of the lattice of flux quanta [1, 2, 3]. Most melting phenomena in Nature are thermodynamic first-order phase transitions. An analytic description of melting is thus difficult since there is no good handle, such as ...
متن کاملNon-linear Surface Superconductivity for Type II Superconductors in the Large-Domain Limit
The Ginzburg-Landau model for superconductivity is considered in two dimensions. We show, for smooth bounded domains, that superconductivity remains concentrated near the surface when the applied magnetic field is decreased below HC3 as long as it is greater than HC2 . We demonstrate this result in the large-domain limit, i.e, when the domain’s size tends to infinity. Additionally, we prove tha...
متن کاملBulk Superconductivity in Type Ii Superconductors near the Second Critical Field
We consider superconductors of Type II near the transition from the ’bulk superconducting’ to the ’surface superconducting’ state. We prove a new L∞ estimate on the order parameter in the bulk, i.e. away from the boundary. This solves an open problem posed by Aftalion and Serfaty [AS].
متن کاملSuperconductivity Bordering Rashba Type Topological Transition
Strong spin orbital interaction (SOI) can induce unique quantum phenomena such as topological insulators, the Rashba effect, or p-wave superconductivity. Combining these three quantum phenomena into a single compound has important scientific implications. Here we report experimental observations of consecutive quantum phase transitions from a Rashba type topological trivial phase to topological...
متن کاملTopological defects in the Abrikosov lattice of vortices in type-II superconductors.
The free energy costs for various defects within an Abrikosov lattice of vortices are calculated using the lowest Landau level approximation (LLL). Defect solutions with boundary conditions for lines to meet at a point (crossing defect) and for lines to twist around each other (braid defect) are sought for 2, 3, 6, and 12 lines. Many results have been unexpected, including the nonexistence of a...
